It seems like yesterday that we were covering the spring shows in New York last September and now we’re planning our strategy for the fall shows starting Feb. 13. There’s a certain mindset in the tents at Bryant Park for those who mingle under the big top all day everyday during Fashion Week. It’s like a circus, only with stylish carnies, sideshows exploiting beauty products and accessories, games of chance toimage win a blackberry, and snack stands giving out Imperia vodka mojitos and Le Petit Écolier biscuits. While many surprises await those who brave the long days and crowds, there’s one thing for certain for most of us—most of our time will be spent waiting on line.

The tents at Bryant Park not only house runways during Fashion Week, but also kiosks touting everything from iGoogle to Italian shoes. Sponsor booths line the circumference of the grand circular lobby.

Stepping onto the streets of NYC after eight years of not being there felt like I was home again. And, walking into that monster circus tent at Bryant Park for Fashion Week was simply surreal! The energy was electrifying, like a rock concert for fashion that lasted all week (think Woodstock, but better clothes).

If there’s one thing I’ve got, it’s an eye for style. Dressing myself since the age of 4, I would rarely allow my mom to pick out my clothes. My New York upbringing—born and raised in Staten Island—really allowed me to be myself and absorb all the styles around me.
