SATC Movie On DVD

imageCalling all fashionistas: Sex and the City, the summer’s hottest chick flick, is out on DVD. Our girlfriends Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte will be waiting for us in stores that sell video everywhere in four sexy editions: three on DVD and one Blu-ray. SATC: The Movie will be available on single DVD discs (R-Rated Widescreen OR Full-screen) for $28.98 SRP, and a 2-disc (Unrated) Extended Edition for $34.99 SRP, and the Unrated Extended Edition on Blu-ray for $35.99 SRP.

imageSo, kick back in your favorite designer jammies, with a Cosmopolitan in hand and bowl of popcorn at your side, and soak in all of the amazing clothes, shoes and, especially, jewelry. Keep your eyes peeled for a new Carrie favorite: a Mikimoto opera-length (32-inches long) necklace of 8.5mm Akoya cultured pearls with signature 18k gold clasp (retails for $11,900 at Mikimoto stores and authorized retailers nationwide). Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, wears the strand throughout the film—while announcing her engagement to Chris Noth, aka “Mr. Big,” while shopping in New York City, and even as she climbs into bed for an intimate moment with her fiancée.

There also were lots of yummy jewels adorning our gal pals from H.Stern. In one of their familiar street strolling scenes, check out Kim Catrell’s character, Samantha, sporting an ombréd citrine ring from the Grupo Corpo Collection, and 18k gold love knot earrings by Diane von Furstenberg for H.Stern. In the same scene, Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon, also is wearing gold bracelets from H.Stern’s Um/Maize collection. At Carrie’s wedding, Miranda uses as a hair accessory a vintage aquamarine and diamond brooch from the Maxima Collection.

Samantha also sparkled in Zephyr diamond and 18k noble gold cuff bracelet, and Charlotte, played by Kristin Davis, was brilliant in Zephyr diamond stud earrings and custom-designed 5-carat emerald cut diamond ring in 18k white gold. At Fashion Week, Miranda flaunted statement Lizard earrings in noble gold with multi-colored sapphire drops, as well as an amethyst sunrise ring. And, a little icon with a lot of meaning was found in an 18k yellow gold “love” key chain custom designed for “Sex and the City” imageby H.Stern for Jennifer Hudson, who played Carrie’s assistant, Louise.

Other jewels in the film came from Fred Leighton, Verdura, Carol Tannenbaum, Masha Archer, Itay Malkin, Jennifer Fisher, Lia Sophia, Cartier, Kenneth Jay Lane, Chanel, Yossi Harari, Bismark, Jacob & Co., Noir, and Roberto Cavalli. For more information on the movie visit warnerbrothers.com.

MAD About Jewelry

New York’s Museum of Art and Design (MAD) opens Elegant Armor: The Art of Jewelry exhibition in its new Tiffany & Co. Foundation Jewelry Gallery at its new home on Columbus Circle. The exhibition, which will run through March 2009, explores the inspirations for contemporary jewelry, including the fine arts, the human form, and the natural world—all of which make contemporary jewelry one of today’s most visually exciting art forms. Drawn from the museum’s permanent collection of about 450 modern and contemporary works—which highlights both established and emerging artists from around the world—the exhibition features over 130 works from 1948 to the present. This diverse collection—with styles ranging from minimal to theatrical, and materials from the everyday to the opulent—presents major themes in contemporary jewelry divided into four sections: Sculptural Forms, Narrative Jewelry, Painted and Textured Surfaces, and Radical Edge.
